SAVING BABY ALLI

ANOTHER CHANCE AT LIFE FOR ALLI

Dear RED Supporters and Volunteers,

We have an urgent emergency plea for donations to save Alli. The estimates to put this 4 to 5 month old baby Redbone Hound together again surgically is $4000.00 to $5000.00. She is a wonderful baby that was found along the road where she had been hit by a car. She has 2 broken legs though very seriously they are fixable. The Ortho’s estimates alone are $4000.00 to $5000.00 just for the surgery. This does not include RED other care costs for Alli. RED staff time, housing, transport is estimates at $1000.00 and additional vet care at our wonderful Vets Hadlock Vet Clinic is 500.00 to 1500.00 pending her needs.  PLEASE DONATE ! Go to www.rescueeverydog.org an make an online donation or mail to RED PO Box 1741 Kingston WA 98346. Please send me email note so we know if this lifesaving surgery is possible for this baby as soon as possible. Our time line is urgent as she has already been sitting waiting for help during stray hold. The clock is ticking and Alli needs you all to help her get another chance at life. Please choose life for Alli. She is kind and sweet and truly a special little girl.

UPDATES: 1-18-12 FIRST SURGERY DONE We started the surgeries and she had her most critical injury her Elbow repaired. We now are moving onto the other breaks. She did well but the length of the 1st repair was all that could be safely done so far. We are hoping for another surgery today if there is enough staff at the Clinic. Snow has been really making this extra complicated from transport to staff etc. 1-19-12 SECOND SURGERY DONE. Alli has had her Tibia repaired today. She is in critical care for now at Hadlock Vets. Thank you Hadlock Vet Clinic and Staff. She is doing well and winning fans and friends. 1-26-12 Alli has move to foster care very close to the vet clinic so she can be closely monitored. She is now surrounded by Nancys loving home and family to help her heal! Thank you Nancy N.!

A Farewell to an Amazing RED Dog

Tuesday January 24th 2012

A Gentle Bear Boy

We were all dazzled by his amazing handsome beauty, enchanted by his humor, blessed to have had him pass through our lives. Farewell sweet Theo. Thank you, Lynette and Beth for making sure he always had a home. TLC

From his adopted mother Beth S.

To our little man goofy cutie patootee bear Theo....

You are such a bright star....full of life, tenderness, and extreme goofiness. You have brought life back into this home and back into my heart. Every moment you are here....greeting me at the side of the bed each morning, making eye contact from afar while lying on your bed, rubbing your cute belly and big bear paws or your pumpkin fluffy head, burying my face in your fluffy, furry head, staring at the food door or any other door, watching your cute stance in the back of the car as you enjoy the panoramic view, watching your hind legs trot to the food door, and lying next to me to protect me.....you are loved and cherished. You have brought joy to Coco and Jolie....pure entertainment for everyone whether you are biting Cocos tail to initiate play, racing your paws in place to find that squeaky cat mouse, or playing with your monkey rolling around on the bed....you are just goofy and so full of life.

And who ever knew that we had gained an outdoor adventurer when you first arrived, all long haired and dragging your feet. Within one week and one couture haircut, you sprang into life, grabbed the attention of many girls, and lived life to the fullest every minute. Your amazing ability to run on our snow and non-snow hikes is the greatest joy to watch! We are so glad to have found your love of the outdoors as we see how much you savor every second. You were truly born to be an outdoor adventure doggie!

And the zen you created...such a contrast to your vivaciousness. Standing near someone just staring, never asking, gently longing, versus pawing the sliding door for access to food/squirrels or to vent cat play frustration; the silent voice inside the house versus squeaky outside voice for all predators. And your tribute to your ancestrial Chowness by napping, protecting, and watching your loved ones on your bed, in front of the back door, side door, interior door, but never the front door.
Your daily motto to live joyfully to the fullest, be close to the ones you love, eat a great meal, and crash on a great big bed are something to which we aspire.

We have been blessed with the perfect family....the five of us are the perfect team. We love you, love you, love you!!! You are the greatest gift! We hope you are at peace with your original mom and we desperately desire to be in your presence again.

Theo came to us on April 4, 2011; departed this life January 14, 2012
(he lived 9 years, 3 months....he spent the first 8 years of his life with his original mom who passed away October 2010...then came to us via his foster mom)

SAVING MISS AMY

Friday November 18th 2011

THE JOURNEY FOR A NEW LIFE HAS BEGUN

SEE BELOW AMY IS READY FOR A HOME!

Little baby Amy we are told was hit by a car way back on about 8-20-11. She was taken to a vet by her owner but no x-rays were taken or supportive care provided. Then on 9-3-11 the dog was taken to the animal shelter and left there. This little one had now sat for weeks with no correct care.  That shelter she had been left to had no means to help a very broken dog so the shelter staff jumped to action and called R.E.D. R.E.D. dispatched transport and had our vet on standby even though it was after hours. We scooped up Little Amy and with high hopes for her recovery drove her straight to the care she had needed weeks ago.

The x-rays immediately made us sad and really a little mad. She had bravely endured weeks with no pain meds with fractures that would have made a grown man black out in agony. Her pelvis is fractured/smashed on both sides and she has a smaller degree spinal/tail fracture. A real\"Wow\" factor is she can stand on one rear leg with these injuries. These are recoverable injuries even though they are affected by the serious delay in treatment and care prior to arrival at R.E.D. Her recovery journey will be months. R.E.D. is currently working with Dr. Ginny and an Orthopedic Vet to give her what she needs to get well. Amy needs a lot of one one one time from R.E.D. staff to keep her moving towards well and mentally happy and developing properly which costs additional $ to our program. This brave little girl deserves a chance to be pain free and well again. We are as committed to her recovery as she is amazingly strong. We are with you little girl every step of the way on this journey of recovery. Please, join us on this life saving effort to give baby Amy the chance to grow up and live a long and loving life. Please, make a sponsor donation.

Thank you Dr. Ginny for your life saving work.

Thank you to Suzy and the OPHS animal shelter staff that made the immediate call for help from R.E.D. for this dog.

UPDATE: 11-18-11 Amy is ready for adoption. Amy has made an amazing recovery. She runs and plays and is full of life. She still has some nerve damage in her foot that is causing her to walk on the back of her toes but we still have hope she may gain some more of that back. If not she at this time just needs the foot to be on soft surfaces not concrete and she does fine and uses the leg just like her other one. She is available for adoption at this time to a home that understands her care needs. She is a normal dog but needs her foot protected from pavement etc.  Amy is a playful loving dog that has a zest for life that we all enjoy!

UPDATE: AMY is still waiting for an applicant adopter! Hard to beleive not one has been intersted in this great little girl.

THANK YOU TO THE FOLLOWING SPONSORS:

Shobha V.

POPPY NEEDS YOU

Saturday September 10th 2011

POPPY IS URGENT-LAST CALL FOR LIFE:

RED Office staff stepped up and has been caring for this dog at RED\'s office. She still needs a foster home or adopter. We try to save these very limited office spots for critical care animals and Poppy is not critical care she is just a regular dog waiting for a home to love her.

ORIGINAL POST: She like Pink had a mammary tumor that was removed. The shelter she is in does not put medical dogs up for adoption. She must exit via rescue to get a chance at life. The tumor was removed and had good margins. People get a second cance at life after thi surgery so we are baffled why not one wants to give this tiny girl one. So close to another chance please help save her. Please email or call if you can help save this dog via foster care or with a sponsor donation. None of these dogs can come to rescue unleSs people help donate for ther care costs. Dollars save lives.

URGENT 8-20-11 SO FAR WE ARE AT NO SPONSORS AND NO FOSTER HOME.

UPDATE: 1-21-12 This dog still has no sponsors or a real foster spot. she is currently hanging out at one of R.E.D.\'s offices.

~Little Shadow~

Tuesday August 9th 2011
~Little Shadow~
THIS DOG NEEDS SPONSORS AND A FOSTER.
Please contact RED if you want to help or make a donation or go to the home page and make a donation.
To start with Shadow needs x-rays and a full blood panel fecal and vet check.
Here is what the shelter staff says: Shadow is an 7 to 8 year old neutered Pomeranian that came to our shelter on July 20th because his owners could not care for him anymore. He does have some skin issues going on that are being addressed with flea medication, some topical ointment and medicated shampoos, so his skin is looking better. Also, Shadow's right rear leg has a malformation that causes his knee to turn inward and he cannot walk on that leg very well... However, he can still get around as he can hop on his left back leg. Shadow can be a quiet and mellow guy, but he is alert and friendly, barks/howls when he gets excited, and enjoys sitting in your lap or being carried around. He also behaves very well for baths! His former owners tell us that he gets along with kids as well as other dogs and cats. We would like to get some help for Shadow so he can have vet care and live in a home again
8-9-11 UPDATE: SHADOW STILL DOES NOT HAVE A FOSTER HOME BUT IS HANGING OUT AT RED'S OFFICE UNTIL SOMEONE DECIDES HE DESERVES A HOME TO STAY IN AS A FOSTER OR ADOPTION. HE ALSO NEEDS SPONOSRS TO HELP WITH HIS CARE COSTS.  He is a nice little boy that is easy and just wants to be loved by someone. He has been to the vets and we are still working up a plan for him medically. He has a a grade 4 patellas issue (knee) in his right leg we will work  in deciding what is best for him in time. Right now we ant to give him some time to put on weight and grow some hair back and get his system more stable via consistent care and good food.  More pictures and updates to come please check in on his progress and help us help him.
SPONSORS WE THANK YOU: Debbie W., Robert E., Beverly G.,
Thank You Bobby for offering to foster little Shadow.

SPECIAL ADOPTION UPDATES

Wednesday December 22nd 2010

Special Adoption News:

Among the many R.E.D. adoptions recently we had some extra special ones as most of these animals were Major Medical Rescues. These special rescues were made possible because people made donations to save these lives.  Major Medical and Special Needs cases are one of the areas of rescue we have always excelled in. They all come the R.E.D. because no one else would help them due to additional time and resources needed.

Copper a dog who came to R.E.D. with severe skin issues and has been with R.E.D. for a long time has joined his forever home. Thank you, Lynette for helping him to a new life.

Kenneth came to R.E.D. from a large shelter because he had bad knees.  2 bad ACL’s required stabilization surgery to correct them. Kenneth has now become a service dog for a young boy. He would not be helping a boy in need had R.E.D. not been there to help him. Thank you, Hazel for making this possible. Dr. Tony, we miss you and thank you and this last rescue of Kenneth is a now a happy ending. Your gift of giving lives on.

Paris one of our R.E.D educational team out reach rabbits who served in with us for a year found her forever home. Thank you, Shayla for helping foster her.

Oliver who had urinary crystals and was dropped of by his lifetime owner to be euthanized. R.E.D. got the call he needed help or his life would end. We excepted him as one of our medical cats and worked on his diet and got him medical care and the time he needed to be well. He was adopted by a fantastic home.

Mia Jaguar Cheetah and Ben a litter of kittens were diagnosed with the treatable condition called ringworm at a large shelter. Like many large shelters treating conditions like ring worm is not possible or allowed. So four lives only 9 weeks old would have extinguished. A call was made to R.E.D. and the kittens were transported quickly to our caring vets who help support R.E.D.’s lifesaving efforts. They were treated and are all now in loving homes. Four lives saved by the power of the word, “Yes.” Thank you Dr. Ginny and staff.

Roxy flat coat retriever was signed off for euthanasia by her homeless owners after she sustained serious injuries as the result of being hit by a car. We agreed to take her and have her treated. She had severe lacerations, head trauma and internal bleeding. In cases like Roxy’s we have to be able to know immediately we have the ability to help both physically and financially. Roxy recovered and has been pre-adopted by a family. She will be in her new home in the next 2 weeks. Thank you Linda and Patrick and Tiffany for your dedication to this great dog.

R.E.D.’s Funds are Very Low and We Need Your Help.
Our R.E.D. Major Medical Rescue and Special Needs efforts are now at Risk. For all for the animals above the shelter staff knows they can call R.E.D. for help in such case and we have always said, “Yes.”  R.E.D.’s ability to say, “Yes we can help,”  is only possible because of donations. Please, make a donation if you want to R.E.D. to be able to say, “Yes” to emergency medical cases in 2011.  www.rescueeverydog.org to donate online or mail your donation to R.E.D. PO Box 1741, Kingston WA 98346
Thank you, to everyone who has made a donation this year!

Please, remember to include those that need you in your holidays. The work by rescue and need does not end for the animals. R.E.D. urgently needs donation to keep our program vital. We have seen this year bring more need and a drastic drop in donations.  Please help make a donation or foster.

Thursday October 28th 2010

Turtle Needs Your Help

A Special Creature Needs New Housing
When school is out one question some may ask is where do the class pets go? Well some of them come to R.E.D. for the summer and weekends for foster care and vacation support care. One such creature. She is a little Three Toed Box Turtle. She is a adorable creature with an amazing, inquisitive personality. These turtles may easily live 30 to 50 years if properly cared for so they are huge commitment. She arrived into the world of Outreach Education after she was found very ill and injured by dogs. She still carries the small holes in her shell from being bitten. She has served as an educational animal at an Elementary school for some time. Her gift is teaching children about responsibility and awareness of what happens to many pets that become unwanted.  She has given children a chance to learn, love and care for her.

This little one is now in R.E.D.'s care along with our other educational outreach members. Upon her arrival we noticed that though well intended her current housing is not as it should be. Tiami and Shayla made a donation to help and have made some big changes like humidity, lighting, heat and bedding and expanded diet. However, the tank size was a big issue. We needed to provide her with a new improved habitat. We upgraded her world and care and make it easier for her to stay well and happy. This in turn will help many, many children learn from her and enjoy meeting her. Having children understand animals needs and responsibility is critical to our R.E.D. mission and the future of our brethren creatures. We need sponsors for her care and feed. She costs about 5.00 a week to feed and provide supplies like lighting, bedding, vitamins for her. If you would like to help a tiny animal educator, please, email tlc@rescueeverydog.org . If anyone is interested in a group session with the R.E.D. Rescue Education Outreach Team of small animals let me know.
Sponsors for this  Life supporting and educational effort are an ongoing need.
Thank you, Beverly G. and Dr. Davies for sponsoring this companion animal!
UPDATE
This little turtle is happy and content at R.E.D. Due to the huge school budget cuts at the school she was at she is not longer able to stay at the school for the 2011/2012 school year. RED is still taking her on educational outreaches when possible.

Gone Without a Trace

Gone Without a Trace

Little Rosa woke up expecting nothing more than a normal day of pain and misery. Sitting in a small dirty cage she found herself being picked up and stuffed in a even smaller cage. More rabbits were put next to her and then they were put in a car. More cages full of rabbits were put next to her and on top of her. Then before she knew it she was being taken inside a very large building then set on a table. To her dismay more rabbits in pain were set right next to her. After a long time she was then picked up a few times handed around then put in a bigger cage away from all she knew. After what seemed like a whole day she was then set in another car this one much warmer and comfy. She was then taken to her new home. She was the put in the biggest cage she had ever seen in a nice room full of rabbits. in a few minutes she had fallen asleep. Soon she felt worse than ever and she soon had been packed full of water was being given medicine day and night. then one night she began to breath slower and slower she soon was asleep and then she was lost to the skies above forever.

We will always miss you Rosa.

By, Jr R.E.D. Volunteer Shayla P.

A rabbit with no name. A life and a soul for anyone one to take for $5.00 and no questions asked. They just needed you gone so they can clear a cage for the next round of rabbits born. That is how we first saw her. She was taken into the RED Rabbit Adoption program with the hope she would get a new chance at life. Sadly, this little bunny was extremely ill and arrived in our care with coccidia. This illness if not treated in time is deadly to rabbits. She was already to sick when she got here but RED tried everything to save her. We named her Rosa and loved her. She was only with us a few days before as we held her gentley as the light within her faded.

This is something that should never have happened. Rabbitries that sell rabbits to others and to children should test their rabbits and provide clean conditions. We have established an effort in Rosa's memory.  The RED Rosa Test for Life Program. We are offering fecal testing to 4H children for their rabbits. May you rest in the arms of the angels little Rosa. You will not be gone with out a trace as we shall make your life and loss bring education and help to others. Please make a donation as $1.00 can test a rabbit and save lives and prevent children and rabbits from suffering.

HELP THE BARN- TONKA'S STORY

Thursday March 4th 2010

BARN BUILDING HELP NEEDED!

TONKA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME OR A FOSTER HOME.

UPDATE: 2-20-2010 THANK YOU PACE ENGINEERING FOR HELP WITH THE ENGINEERED DRAWINGS.

December 29th 2009: Tonka is a happy boy and hanging out in retirement. The barn that shelters him and others is a quiet place and a place where they are happy and the world does not worry them. Sadly, we who care for him are not as happy or worry free.  As housing the rescue horses and rabbits has become a possible issue. We started a process that we wish we had not now that we know the difficult nature of getting a structure of this age approved in the sea of county confusion even though it is very sound and attractive barn. Sorry if we sound frustrated but the process has been beyond reality. We need help keeping him happy along with his other 2 horse friends and the possible future rescues. We need someone that likes or is good with dealing with the county and a Building Engineer willing to donate services for engineered drawings of the exisitng structure and / or donations to cover the costs of replacing his stall and the hay storage area that is used for the rescued horses. To keep this barn sheltering rescues we need help with engineered drawings. The time line is immediate as the permit process was started and we were not told we needed the drawings until after we started. The other option is to replace the barn and start over with a new structure, (even though there is nothing wrong with the barn we have but of course new would be nice too). If there are any donors that would like to help the horse and the caregivers of the horses here would be grateful. There are so many horses in need right now displacing these rescues will impact the lives of other horses in need and stop us from helping more. Tonka is a senior and can not stay out in bad weather. He needs his nice cozy stall. I will be happy to chat and brainstorm with anyone that has pro bono legal, engineering or construction services or donations that might help solve the problem for the rescue horses and rescue rabbits. If I spend my time struggling on this I am not able to do my rescue work for R.E.D. and it costs lives and services for people and pets in need every day. tlc@rescueeverydog.org  Please help!  Tiami

March: Tonka is doing well and has had his feet trimmed. He has had his vet assessment and has a shoulder injury that has healed incorrectly and has affected many other parts of him. His hip and other shoulder are out of alignment from compensating for the injured front shoulder. His jaw was also partially dislocated. He had chiropractic and acupuncture treatments last week and did really well. His jaw was aligned and he yawned and yawned. Finally able to eat and yawn pain free for the first time in a very long time.  On his leg. Before treatment he was dragging his foot and after he could trot with his foot elevated. He had a little happy trot around the field! He will need more treatments to continue to improve. At this point he is a big pasture pet that is a joy to be with. With lots of care and love he will be a more sound horse. His next vet visit will be on the 14th of March. He will have another chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture and a dental floatation. Everyone that meets him is so happy he is alive and well. He is gentle and kind. He loves his treats and his night time dinner. Yum!  He loves children, being brushed, being petted and has been a sweet R.E.D. ambassador. // UPDATE: 4-21-08 Tonka is doing well. He is hanging with his horse buddies Taylor and Sunny. He loves to nap with the boys. It is funny usually one horse in a herd will stand watch but not these boys. Everybody is snoozing in the sun He has learned new things like waiting politely to enter his stall and exit his stall. He loves his stall and can hardly wait to go to bed at night and eat his goodies. His new friend the farrier will be here next week to do his hooves again. He is on some great supplements to help with his joints and healing and he has shown improvement on his leg and will be seen again by the vet for another adjustment in about 3 weeks.  So, we wait for time and care to heal him and hopefully he will continue to leave his leg issues behind. UPDATE: 5-3-08 Tonka got his feet done and his hoof shape is much improved as he is using more equal pressure and he has had several on time hoof trims now. UPDATE: 5-7-08 Thank you, Superior Pet Foods, of Poulsbo for donating joint supplements for Tonka !!!UPDATE: 7-10-08 Tonka is still improving and at times appears to stand normally. Though he will probably never be a riding horse again. However, he is an awesome equine buddy and has personality plus. He has become the more dominant of the horses here so he is really feeling way better than when he came. Farrier reports his hooves now look awesome! So complete success on hoof recovery and reshaping. He is pretty sassy now and sweet Tonka is a Happy Horse! UPDATE: 10-22-08 TONKA IS DOING WELL AND IS READY FOR ANOTHER DENTAL REALIGNMENT. PLEASE HELP SPONSOR THIS KIND BOY. UPDATE: 2-10-08 WE COULD USED DONATIONS OF/FOR BEDDING BALES AND GRASS HAY! WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR HELP/DONATIONS ON HORSE HOUSING/SHELTERS AND THE COSTS FOR PUTTING THEM IN.  Tonka just had his feet done on Monday and he is doing very well. He has been wearing his blanket again to keep warm on these chilly wet snowy days. 4-15-09: Tonka had a vet check and his feet done and he got the all clear from the vet. He is doing well. He will never be a riding horse again due to the severity of his old injuries but he has fun in the sun and loves life. Tonka is now availalbe for adoption to an approved stellar and fantastic forever horse home.

Shelter, care, bedding, hay and feed and hoof care and all his medical bills have been paid for by the following sponsors. Special Thanks to  Tiami C., Mike P., Shayla P., Hazel B. for helping him with a sponsorship and vet costs and daily care tasks. Thank you, Melissa B. and Ray C. for you help with Tonka on vacation care.

More R.E.D. Tonka Financial Sponsors are needed for his ongoing care and treatments. We would also like horse experience volunteers that might want to come spend time with Tonka and his equine friends

FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Thursday December 31st 2009

RESCUE REQUIRES FUNDS

We are expecting a drop in funding for our program this year so the first and most obvious need is donations. We would like to prevent any cuts in services as the services are in more need than ever. If anyone has a fundraising idea or effort they want to put forward this would be an awesome time to help! In short the need is up and the donations are lower. Please help.
