Greetings Everyone,
Please, read the following news and let us know if there is anyone you can help save or a need you would like to assist with. Section one is animals in need of fosters or transport or sponsors. Section 2 is general news and needs. Section 3 is just for fun. Thanks to all for your hard work and effort!
Tiami Coleburg R.E.D. Executive Director
Section 1: Last Chance For Life Pets Many rural shelters do not have the necessary staff or funding to provide adequate space, medical care and adoption capability for the number of animals they receive. Saving highly adoptable companion animals that are to be euthanized in such shelters is R.E.D.'s top priority. We also assist ownerless adoptable companion animals, which are in high-risk situations due to no fault of their own, and medically needy adoptable companion animals. R.E.D. Alert, publicizes the plight of such animals and searches for alternate rescue solutions via the internet. This is often the last chance they have at life.
If you would like to adopt or save an animal presently on R.E.D. Alert, please read the instructions on the animal's profile and act quickly. Time is running out, so making the correct contact quickly is critical.

CHARLIE CHIN AND HIS FRIENDS NEED SPONSORS AND A FOSTER HOMES!
This is Charlie Chin. He and his canine family members came to R.E.D. after their owner died and left them homeless. He is an nine year old gentleman that needs a loving adopter or doting foster home. He is a Japanese Chin. We think his owner loved him but due to many things in her life she was not able to provide all that he needed to be healthy. He had not had good vet care for a long time so his dental situation was urgent and affecting his over all health. Bad dental care can lead to many of the issues that charlie Chin has. He is missing one eye from an old injury. The other eye is clouding is partially from age but much of it is was mainly to be the bad dental problems that he was fighting. He also has a grade 3 heart murmur which could also be partially from the infection. The vet and we think some of that will clear and restore some of his vision. Currently his eye has turned brown and beautiful again and he can again see around him. We even after just 2 weeks can see improvement after his complete dental and anitbiotics. He is just a fun kind little dog that loves to sit on a soft bed under my desk or wander about the yard enjoying the smells of spring and the sun on his face. He gets frisky and likes to play and scamper around telling those toys what for! We love this little one and he so deserves a loving home where he can be cherished. If you are interested in adopting, please, go to the online application on our website. Please, let us know if you are interested in fostering and have small breed experience. Jack is Chalrlie Chins son and he needs a fposter spot or adopter also. He is posted on the adoption page. We have other small and large dogs that need foster spots also. If you would like to financially sponsor him and help with the costs to care for him, please, email or call the R.E.D. office. This dog and others need Sponsors!!!
PLEASE, CHECK BACK FOR MORE UPDATES AND PICTURES OF CHARLIE AS HE PROGRESS AND ENJOYS HIS STAY WITH R.E.D.

LITTLE COPPER HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
This is beagle boy was near death when he was raced to emergency surgery. He had a obstructed bowel. His owners opted to have him put to sleep rather than pay for the surgery. The vet clinic offered to call R.E.D. to get him help and R.E.D. flew into action. Thank you, Kaitlyn for the rush transport to get him to help. Thank you Hadlock Vets for staying open to get him the surgery he needed. The obstruction was caused by a sock he swallowed. We need financial sponsors to help cover the $700.00 in vet costs it took to save him. If the funds used on emergencies like this are not replaced R.E.D. can not respond in time to save worthy companion animals like this. 100.00 of Donations have

CAN ANYONE HELP FINISH OUR MOBILE OUTREACH AND EMERGENCY DISASTER TRAILER?

RED ALERT, 5/7/2008
A RESCUE RUN
It was past time to go home and the phone rang one more time. Melissa took the call and instantly new the urgency of the situation. A family member had found a woman dead in her home. She had died days before. Her animals were in the house with her and urgently needed food, water and a safe place to go. The family had no option for the dogs but wanted to know they were safe. The owner of the dogs had not been well for some time so the dogs and the conditions they lived in were alarming and extremely shocking even to experienced rescuers and heartbreaking for the family. Out of respect for the family and the departed, we will not share all the details of this rescue. The person that owned for these dogs was not evil or heartless. She simply lost her way on this earth and was unable to keep up with her life. We feel no anger towards her and only wish she would have taken the help her family and friends had offered her in the past. I hope she has found peace and she knows her tiny dog friends are safe and getting well and shall have good lives.
We rolled into the yard at 7:00 at night and quickly went into action gathering the dogs and getting them ready to return to foster care. The family was grateful for the fast and compassionate action of the R.E.D. staff who responded to their calls in 1 hour. We had all the dogs safely placed in cozy beds and accessed by 11:00 that night. They were filthy matted and covered on urine and fecal matter but they needs time to get over the shock of the death of their owner and the move from the isolated house they had lived in. The outside world was not something they had seen much of. So what was called for a good nights sleep for all the dogs and rescuers. Morning brought the next step to recovery and the week was a whirlwind of grooming, baths, vet visits, vaccines, worming and the list goes on. I want to thank, Kaitlyn, Melissa, Linda, Shayla, Tiffany and Dr. Johnson and staff for the many hours spent working with these dogs and getting them back to healthy pretty babies.
Little Pippin gets a much needed bath and grooming.

These are pictures of a few of the the group of rescued dogs after they were rested, cleaned up, groomed, and vetted. Please, let us know if your interested in sponsoring or fostering one of them or adopting.
Jack he is a pom and Japanese Chin mix

Kodiak an American Eskimo

Teddy Bear a Black and Tan Pom

Prancey a sable Pom

Puddy, This little one was the last to make it to the loving safety of R.E.D. care. He had a severely infected eye that had to be removed and he still has a bad leg which needs to be removed. We need him to heal from the eye removal surgery and the infection issues before we can conquer the leg problem. We need sponsors to help this tiny boy to a happy healthy life.
5-1-08 Puddy has had no sponsors to help pay for his surgeries.

RESCUES LIKE THESE CAN NOT HAPPEN WITHOUT DONATIONS AND THE DEDICATED STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS THAT MAKE THESE EFFORTS POSSIBLE.
Gratefully Yours,
Tiami Coleburg Executive Director Rescue Every Dog www.rescueeverydog.org

TONKA IS SAFE AND WORKING ON GETTING BETTER.

March: Tonka is doing well and has had his feet trimmed. He has had his vet assessment and has a shoulder injury that has healed incorrectly and has affected many other parts of him. His hip and other shoulder are out of alignment from compensating for the injured front shoulder. His jaw was also partially dislocated. He had chiropractic and acupuncture treatments last week and did really well. His jaw was aligned and he yawned and yawned. Finally able to eat and yawn pain free for the first time in a very long time. On his leg. Before treatment he was dragging his foot and after he could trot with his foot elevated. He had a little happy trot around the field! He will need more treatments to continue to improve. At this point he is a big pasture pet that is a joy to be with. With lots of care and love he will be a more sound horse. His next vet visit will be on the 14th of March. He will have another chiropractic adjustment, acupunture and a dental floatation. Everyone that meets him is so happy he is alive and well. He is gentle and kind. He loves his treats and his night time dinner. Yum! He loves children, being brushed, being petted and has been a sweet R.E.D. ambassador. // UPDATE: 4-21-08 Tonka is doing well. He is is hanging with his horse buddies Taylor and Sunny. He loves top nap with the boys. It is funny usually one horse in a herd will stand watch but not these boys. Everybody is snoozing in the sun He has learned new things like waiting politely to enter his tall and exit his stall. He loves his stall and can hardly wait to go to bed at night and eat his goodies. His new friend the farrier will be here next week to do his hooves again. He is on some great suppliments to help with his joints and healing and he has shown improvement on his leg and will be seen again by the vet for another adjustment in about 3 weeks. So, we wait for time and care to heal him and hopefully he will continue to leave his leg issues behind. UPDATE: 5-3-08 Tonka got his feet done and his hoof shape is much improved as he is using more equal pressure and he has had several on time hoof trims now. UPDATE: 5-7-08 Thank you, Superior Pet Foods, of Poulsbo for donating joint suppliments for Tonka !!!
Special Thanks to Hazel B, Tiami, Ray C., Mike P. and Shayla P. for helping him with a sponsorship. Thank you, Melissa B for you help with Tonka on vacation care
More R.E.D. Tonka Sponsors are Needed for his ongoing treatments. |

R.E.D. has been reaching out to some special animal lovers with R.E.D.'s AT program.
Please, join us in bringing joy to the faces of the citizens of our communities who are not able to have pets of their own. This program is so important to those who have lost the companionship of animals to shared their lives with. For those of us that adore our companion animals and find the thought of not having them unthinkable the R.E.D. A.T. program should be easy to understand and support. Watching a persons face light up went a gentle furry soul sits sweetly in their lap or wags back to their spoken words. Animal love for these people is priceless. The dogs we carefully match to these outings love to get out to spread the joy! It is win, win situation for the people and companion animals. We currently have transportation costs and about staff time dedicated to this worthy program. We could all find ourselves petless at some point in our lives. Please, help us fund this effort and bring joy and comfort to someone like yourself who also has a love for animals. Special thanks to Melissa B. for her dedication and hardwork on this worthy program
