Unable or unwilling to take on the responsibility to care for the orphaned pups the owner dropped the tiny babies off at a public animal shelter that had no way to bottle feed the sad, scared nursing pups. The owner that allowed her dog to become pregnant, give birth to eight lives and then be hit by a car simply walked away relieved of her "problem." Thus, leaving kind shelter staff to face the grim prospects for these eight tiny new lives.

Wanting life for these babies they quickly called R.E.D. to help and of course we were there to help them and the little ones. The long days and nights of feeding cleaning and socializing are part of the job we expect and embrace. These babies are now safe and warm with full tummies surrounded by those that love them. We will seek bright futures for them, far different from their poor mothers. Her legacy shall be a happy lives for her babies

Did you know the cost to raise a litter of pups can run with: medical care, (Vaccines, worming, microchips, spay neuter), food, formula, bedding averages can be 1000.00 to 1500.00 or more. These costs do not include equipment, facility, power, addition medical care if a pup is ill, transport or any wages, (most of foster care is provided by volunteers.)
